@matteoscordino @vinnl Here in the Netherlands energy bills are generally paid by the renter. There's a good chance he was just being thorough, he first asked me if I lived there. Still, I find it a bit odd to then, after a 'yes I live here', have any doubts about who manages the utilities.

@Gina @matteoscordino I'm a renter in the Netherlands though :) Yes, I pay for the energy bills, but unfortunately I'm not in charge of the contract :(

@Gina @matteoscordino I guess, it never really explicitly came up (it was unfurnished though). It was the same when I lived in social housing where the woningcorporatie took care of it, so I imagine it could be pretty common.

@Gina I wouldn't take it personally, I get asked that whenever they call, either at the door or by phone. Right before I tell them to go and play with the traffic. Politely, of course.

@Gina @vinnl here we pay the power and internet bill, but the water is paid by the building management. Oh, and the power is on my wife's name, but the internet is on mine, so... messy :)
