i think this is literally the reason why the switch is 'winning'

@lain dunno if Animal Crossing is still the big thing, but it's had 9 updates since release and at least one of those also required your system firmware to be updated as well apparentlyso I don't really follow your train of thought here

@brad switch makes it really easy to skip updates (for not always-on titles)

@lain so assuming you're talking offline/local play, are the other consoles really stopping you from skipping updates? switch has auto updates unless you turn them off, not sure about the other ones. what happens if you're just not on the internet?

@lain it's true, when you're a casual gamer you spend a relatively large amount of your time catching up on updates. Super frustrating. I know since I started gaming a little more, recently, the updates don't seem so onerous

@brad i knew this would be the reply, 'but does ps4 / xbone REALLY prevent you', no, they don't, but they make it less it obvious. 'but then you're an idiot' ok then i am, but there are 100 million idiots just like me who think that switch is 'more comfy' because it 'doesn't force' them to update, even if you could have the same behaviour with other systems.

@lain I'm not trying to argue or insult you really, just not sure about this stuff and you seemed up-to-date on it

@lain Game sizes and updates are too common for sure that is one thing I don't like about XboxFor Example Call of Duty warzone was fuckin 111GB and just casually dropped a 30GB patch one nightI just said hell no and uninstalled itGames shouldn't be getting 30GB patches...It's too much

@lain depends on what you play, offline games play fine without updating on ps4, like ys9 or dirt rally in my library, always online stuff like gt sport on the other hand....
