@fosstodon Thank you. My life has been so much more enjoyable and less stressful since I bid farewell to Facebook and joined your ranks. It enriches my life to converse with other people sharing my interests. It makes life more bearable to have a "safe space" where politics are rarely, if ever, mentioned. It gives me hope to know there are people who are not brainless drones addicted to social media and all the trash that goes with it. I just gave my first donation. Thank you.

@cldtech @Mastodon @fosstodon I think it's these specific reasons I like Fosstodon. In all other media, we're bombarded by "Free Speech". It's a relief to go somewhere we can have a discussion without it become heated over differences in political values/stances. Furthermore, I've noticed that when people do disagree here, they do so using Principled Debate over measurable traits rather than the useless/harmful Positional Debates we see in most other media.

@cbush @Mastodon @fosstodon Agreed for the arguments over the opinions! But within 3 days on fosstodon i was already having a post deleted. Mastodon does not allow insults or worst either, but it's a serious problem to delete simple opinions on arbitrary basis. In fact that's the exact opposite of why Mastodon has been made.

@cbush @Mastodon @fosstodon sure i had made a public post with them tagged and as soon as i realize Code of conducts was not just a misuse for Terms of use and mentioned it the whole post was deleted.. 😂 Then i look others in the fediverse and since for me Freedom is why i quit Twitter, i switch for the original Mastodon. I's not only tech centric but you still are connected to fosstodon people just like me and you.

@cbush He did contact us, though his decision to move was his own. I'm not sure what happened regarding his post. I can't find any reference to any of his posts being deleted (though there is definitely at least one missing) in our audit logs. His account is still available on Fosstodon, as are his posts, including the one where he referred to Fosstodon as a cult. If he wanted to come back to Fosstodon, he'd be welcome.@cldtech @Mastodon @fosstodon

@mike Based on the size and quality of your member base alone, I'm sure @fosstodon does not delete posts arbitrarily, without cause, or any more than necessary. I appreciate you providing these facts though. Transparency is always appreciated.

@cbush @cldtech @Mastodon @fosstodon I'd like to think Article 19 of the UDHR or the First Amendment (if you're from USA) supercedes any CoC, but realistically free speech means different things to different people. It is not meant to be a shield to run behind when 'you' feel like acting like an incontinent asshole, regardless of political, religious etc., ideologies. 1/2

@cbush @cldtech @Mastodon @fosstodon I do find the trend of internet platforms curtailing free speech abhorrent, even illegal depending on jurisdiction. Fosstodon has been an excellent instance thus far, with many well rounded individuals who excel at conducting themselves in an exemplary fashion such that I don't think we even needed to have "this isnt a free-speech zone" in the CoC. Luckily my opinion wasn't solicited. :)

@cldtech In my humble opinion, and drawing from experience, for all the hullabaloo mastodon makes about federation, many, if not all instances censor one or more other instances for various reasons. Some publicly list reasons why those instances are blocked. 1/2

@cldtech the character limit on Fosstodon is 500 characters.Both Mike and I have been through the audit logs between 17-23 June (your initial sign up - last toot), which capture every action done by the team - there's no record of a post of yours being deleted. If it was deleted, it wasn't by us.There were also no reports made against your account, which is usually how we take action. With 11k users, it's impossible for us to see all.@Citizenzibb
