People who think Starship Troopers was a good novel are surprisingly invested in the idea of “Heinlein’s experience of WW2” and get quite uncomfortable when reminded he left the navy in 1936.

@ghost_bird hot take for a loke...50 year old novel? I think it is a good novel. like I've read it and run well and its a fun read. the philosophical.under pinnings are trash however and im willing to trade good novel for no one thinking facisim is good. the forever war is also a great read but also way less facisit. I've brought several copy's of the forever war. I only ever borrowed starship troopers

@ghost_bird also I'm open to different means for the word good as opposed to just...easy abd kinda fun to read

@firecoals No, that’s very valid. I’m thinking of “good” in the sense of “a great novel whose ideas deserve to be taken seriously”, which is another thing entirely.

@firecoals I like The Forever War too - and quite a lot of Heinlein for that matter. I never managed to finish Starship Troopers though.
