@Camille Hope you're feeling OK today ❤️ hope the test wasn't too uncomfortable and that you're able to get plenty of rest.

Thank you so much Anna. I'm feeling better this morning which makes me more convinced that it's a cold and not Covid. Just had the test this morning - it was grand! A lovely nurse called Leonie did the job, and she was great. We chatted briefly while she was doing the test. She told me that very few ambulance staff had contracted it, which is good to hear. But she also said that there's been an uptick in the number of mental health cases she's responding to - both people who had already been diagnosed with a condition, and people who have developed issues during lockdown, which is a bit of a worry. They just announced a delay in rolling out the next phase of lockdown here, as the R number is estimated between to be between about 1.2 and 1.8 - albeit on a still (thankfully) low number of cases.@Anna_Khalili33

@Camille Yes, I saw that on the news last night and was thinking of you. I can imagine that the number of mental health cases has gone up. Even the most resilient of us are bound to get anxious during all this uncertainty. Glad you're feeling better! Continue resting and hopefully you'll be back to your normal self very soon ❤️

glad you got it done and you are feeling better. also not surprised at number of MH problems, but it's a thing that was largely ignored before, getting an appt has always been a long wait and it's hard to get minor things taken seriously, it's always CBT is the answer. I'm sure lots of people who were not fine distracted themselves with friends and gonig out, throwing themselves into work etc, and this lockdown has prevented a lot of that and brought the problems into focus. being 'trapped' with your family is like xmas for 4months, so yes, that too. but I don't know what anyone plans to do about it. Here's hoping you are fine. and that Ireland gets the case numbers down again. @Camille @Anna_Khalili33

You know, I'm pretty sure the rise in the R number and the mental health issues are related - when lockdown is eased a bit, people who've been cooped up and freaked out were eager to get out an into company. May have gone a bit overboard in some instances. And for people who were already managing mental health conditions, many of whom haven't had access to the kind of support that they need for some time now, well, there's only so long that's sustainable. And that's on top of the point you make - which that it's bloody hard to get access to those things in the first place!Of course I'm acutely aware that there are people still shielding, who still can't get out and still don't have access to the support they need. But they don't seem to get mentioned in public debates about these issues.Indeed I'm going to say that I'm getting a little frustrated about the extent to which - at least in my part of the world - all the focus is on issues arising from Covid, as if there were no problems before this hit. But the fact of the matter is that people who were having a shitty time of it before Covid are having an even more shitty time of it now (we know for example that Covid mortality rates are higher among poor populations than more affluent ones). But all I seem to hear about is people who were doing just fine before this. They've delayed the opening of pubs who don't serve food and allowing large scale social gatherings here, and if I hear about one more 'distraught bride' who 'needs certainty' ... well I'm going to be very irritated indeed!@FeartnTired @Anna_Khalili33

so much that. no-one ever had a problem in their life til the plague happened. some things have been good, better than they were - the food box deliveries are reaching more people than the food banks did in some cases. and presenting it as 'oh it's for the plague, not charity' has got past a few stigma barriers. but generally, what was working is lost, if you don't want to do skype and zoom it's your own fault for missing out, because the focus is on people who have no means to do that, no the weirdos who find screens and stuff harder. bleugh. it's all just a bit much. According to shielding route map for scotland by end of next week I'm to have visitors inside the house, go in someone else's car and go on public transport. now regardless of the possibilities for my previous self, I haven't seen the risk based calculations on that, local data is not available, these measures are being change nationally. @Camille @Anna_Khalili33
