I think rss feeds would be better than twitter for important people and companies to publish their bs, they don't get anything out of the social aspect of it and with the feeds hosted on each of their own servers there isn't a single point of failure for everyone to get compromised at once. someone just make a nice centralized index to easily find them, maybe it'd even make normies evaluate how much of that crap they really need to read if it's separate from their social things.

@sampo but didn't you hear? Feeds are obsolete because you can't spy through them as comprehensively and monetisation opportunities are basically non-existent the social aspect of the Web is the way of the future.

@lanodan @sampo I do, I felt betrayed when Google dropped it. I've been reusing feedly recently, as I don't want to fuss with hosting ttrss ever again.

@phil @lanodan @sampo why would you need to host an rss reader? Why not just use a local one like newsboat?

@lanodan it really is a shame that it's gone, one of the few google services that I actually enjoyed besides the old maps
