Hey luke,Another server provider that has unlimited bandwidth is OVH. https://us.ovhcloud.com/ is their US site. Their cheapest VPS is $6 a month with 40 GB storage, and 250Mbps traffic. OVH is a french company, but OVHUS is a subsidiary operating independently in the US to get around some regulations. All of OVHUS's servers are hosted within the US. If you want a european or australian server, you are able to buy one through their international website, and they still deal in USD.

@torresjrjr@lukeIs it possible to make a text post on peertube? If so it doesn't really make sense to make a second account unless he wants to put different kinds of content up (like how his podcast is book review content instead of tech rants like his videos).

Since Peertube runs off of torrents, it may be the ideal usecase for a seedbox. Bandwidth and storage is significantly cheaper than a VPS, but the trustworthiness of seedbox hosting companies is questionable. The most professional-looking one I've seen is rapidseedbox.com, which has a 5TB plan for $15/month, along with 1TB of storage. Not sure if peertube/webtorrent supports it yet though.

@Zambyte @luke True. Its up to him. I think he's only recently understanding how the Fediverse works. For audio centric posts (podcasts) there's also the federated https://funkwhale.audio , although I think he's probably just gonna keep using RSS for https://notrelated.xyz . Also, knowing Luke, he's gonna curse you for calling his videos "tech rants" lol.

@luke You mentioned looking for an efficient way of hosting videos. One of the better methods is using a couple of different servers; one with a powerful CPU and one with a ton of storage. You can have the frontend wherever you want but videos would be uploaded to the CPU-optimised server for transcodes then, once they're finished, moved to the storage server. You could definitely get one server that does both but it might be cheaper to go with two.https://docs.joinpeertube.org/#/admin-remote-storage

I joined this site when YT decided to NUKE 3 of my channels for a copyright strike. They nuked the EMAIL associated with the account too but restored it (my old-ass MAIN email account at that time). The channels had no backups , I learned the ways of YouTube-dl later thanks to You (and saved 1 beloved subscriber account in the process)!!One thing is sure, offline content consumption of the 90's is making a come back.

I'm using Hetzner for the Mastodon instance I deployed for my family. There are 2 reasons to use Hetzner:1. Hetzner is located in Germany and Germany is (much more) strict (than US) when it comes to privacy. I recommend reading their privacy policy. 2. All of their VM plans have same 20TB traffic limit. Even cheaper than 3euto/month option. If you need more traffic, you can setup load balancers (I guess). Disclaimer: I don't exactly know how load balancers work.@luke
