Every email client I've ever used is only "less bad" than the previous. The only one that is something of an exception is aerc but even it doesn't quite fit what I want.I'm hoping I'll be able to cobble something together with these for downloading and organisinghttps://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/OfflineIMhttps://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Notmuchhttps://github.com/afewmail/afewAnd one of these for a MUAhttps://github.com/pazz/alothttps://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/MuttWe'll see.

@Xystel Aside from excellent plaintext support and a TUI, I don't really have any hard requirements. Just a vague workflow in mind

@Xystel The main thing that kills clients for me is that I have a lot of addresses I actively receive mail at and need to be able to reply from. Good organisation is almost impossible when you're using a unified inbox and searching through them all to check is a pain. I just want a notification when I have a new one and I want to throw it in a folder for later. Not spend five minutes clicking around in a GUI or looking for which account the ding was from.

@amolith aerc can do notmuch, other than that you want neomutt, not mutt if you actually plan to switch. It has much better support for notmuch than mutt

@amolith I'm curious how a TUI e-mail client would look like. Ok I don't have such a problem I only have 3 active adresses. I'm using Thunderbird with the HTML Temp Plugin, which allows me to switch from html to plain text format. On the sidebar I can see my really fast where i received a new mail, because the folder is bold then. And there is the birdtray programm which can be customized to show a different colour for each email account.
