I won't be staying and posting often because I came here to get away from sex and porn-related things on the Fediverse. I'm partially successful but there's a lot of discussions here about porn and sex when I'm tired of thinking about it at all.

@imurjazzsinger just in case you didn't know, there is a option to mute keywords in your settings. you can add words like porn and posts with that word won't show up for you or will be hidden by default.

@wolfie @imurjazzsinger well. from what I can tell, spinster has a lot of discussion about radical feminism, which would discuss porn in the context of being a bad thing. (and different views of sex ofc, depending on who you are and what you think) so it would be hard to get away from that topic

@wolfie @mewmew @imurjazzsinger It's why ActivityPub instances don't really make good migration paths for subreddits. You go to a subreddit when you want to read/post about x subject. Fedi is just one big general chatroom with threads on everything .. so you see the pornbots and the pol and the sunsets photos all mixed in one big steaming pile of meme.You shouldn't have to jump over to another account just to view some catposting bots because they block your feminism instance entirely.

@imurjazzsinger its an issue that affects women (and greatly) so I think its fair for it to be discussed. But I definitely understand needing to get away from it. I saw someome im the comments say you can block words so I hope that helps you out without needing to leave the platform :blob_cat_heart:

@cy @djsumdog @imurjazzsinger @wolfie I think that's something that'll see more polish in the FE as well. The ability to follow specific tags is present in some fedi software already, iirc, and something like groups (or more ideally circles, the only thing G+ got right) would really solve this.

@imurjazzsinger It really depends on who you follow. If you use the muting tools available it's not that hard to curate the subjects you want to talk about. Maybe reconsider who you're following if it's a constant problem.

It's not a well integrated feature so no one uses it.Better discoverability will be dope. I'm very sick of the Federated TL.

So it only works on a high-population instance or if you have a relay account to follow a bunch of garbage, which... fine, I guess? But not very intuitive.Tbh I don't like how follows and timelines coalesce in general. I have a model for how I think it should work in the abstract but not the knowledge to put that into any sort of practice.
