@sir Jerry Pournell. "The Mote in God's Eye" is some of the best classic hard scifi, and "Inferno" is one of the books I keep rereading because it's so good.

@sir Fair enough. I'm planning to read Disc World next, then see if I can get through Lord of the Rings as an audio book.Otherwise I'm only just getting back into a book reading habit, so I've more got audio adventures to recommend.Do try Magus Elgar! It's a nice depiction of scientific discovery in terms of Pratchett-esque magic.

@sir Liu Cixin's Three Body Problem https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Three-Body_Problem_%28novel%29It's not at all Pratchetian but as a european I found it refreshing to have another cultural look on SciFi. Moreover his depiction of the Cultural Revolution was not something I expected from an author having to deal with censorship. I'd like to point also that a phycist friend of mine told me that he liked that the real heroes the books are the laws of physics which is kind of true (and that's what decided me to try the books :P).

@sir Erin Morgenstern's "The Starless Sea". Not quite our world, or maybe a mix of our world and a world made up of tales. A sort of literature conspiracy or a meta story about books, reading, and storytelling that comes to life.

@govynnusChiang should be required reading in my opinion. Short, character focused explorations of philosophical themes. Bit of a mathematical taste like a modern day Borges. The recent collection 'Exhalation' is dope; particularly 'Anxiety is the Dizziness of Freedom'.@sir
