@sir What about sites that use email addresses as username? They need to have the ability to change the email. It would be useful to have a unique identifier that doesn't change to maintain continuity before and afterwards. The identifier is used internally only and user never even knows what theirs is.

@sir oh, you mean expecting the user to input the numeric ID in the login form, instead of just using the numeric ID as primary key in the database, but still using username in the UI?
