@Gargron I'm trying to move back to mastodon.social from mastodon.art, but I'm trapped in the "create an account alias" loop. The mastodon.social account is apparently "active", but I'm stuck at the the "create an account alias" step with no apparent next step.Where do I go from here?

@flugennock Why are you going back to .social ?Do .art and .social even federate? I thought that our mods had cut that particular cord some time back.

@xenophora Oh, yeah; they both federate. I tried .art for a while; it's an OK place, but the traffic's a bit thin, and I decided that maybe I might find a wider audience at .social.

@xenophora Oh, yeah; they both federate, at least as far as I know. At least the accounts are able to follow each other; I'm no expert, though. I tried .art for a while; it's an OK place, but the traffic's a bit thin, and I decided that maybe I might find a wider audience at .social.

@flugennock .social is painfully under-moderated, though. What, like 3-4 mods for literally thousands of accounts? Also, you might get a little more interaction and boosting if you provided descriptions. Or even the kind of intros you do over at Sinkers. I don't boost art without descriptors, even art I really like.

@xenophora @flugennock Back that “painfully under-moderated” up with evidence or stop spreading misinformation.

@Gargron @flugennock ❓😐 Dude, how many mods do you have vs. how many active posters?

@xenophora @flugennock Do you think every active poster breaks rules on a daily basis? Do you understand that incidents that require mod intervention are rare in proportion to legitimate activity and especially so on a server that doesn’t accept new users?

@Gargron @flugennock Do *you* understand how overly defensive you're being right now with someone who's merely voicing a mildly negative opinion and who doesn't use your instance anymore?

@flugennock So if your .social has an alias pointing back to .art, next step is to click “move followers” from .art

@Gargron I'm writing this from .social right now. As you can see, my .art profile won't let me export my followers from there.

@flugennock You need to look under account in the settings, basically the same area as where you create aliases.

@Gargron OK, I'm there now.I already did the alias step, exported my "Following" file to a .csv which seemed to import OK.Apparently, it was supposed to have migrated my followers automatically, but I haven't seen any change in my .social follower number yet. Will I have to logout and log back in to see that change? I know it takes some time for changes to propagate across a large network...

@Gargron ...so, the .social account is reactivated, and all my follows imported OK, but I haven't seen my followers from .art show up in there yet. They're supposed to be moved over automatically, right...? ...because I can't download a .csv of my followers, just my follows.

@Gargron Oh, yeah; I went through that whole part, created an alias as requested. So I read that right... "this action will move all followers..."So, basically I don't really need to do any more about that, just wait for the network to register the change?
