@Big_Diggity @jeffalyanak Basically any carrier (GSM or CDMA) worldwide should be compatible on a technical basis, but sometimes carriers don't allow unapproved devices, though this has proven to be less of an issue than initially feared.https://wiki.pine64.org/index.php/PinePhone#Modem_and_Carrier_Support

@jeffalyanak @PINE64 The removable battery was a big selling point for me. It is not just about repairability but it also helps with troubleshooting.

@jeffalyanak @PINE64 Now I just need to get my hands on one. Hopefully it works out with the PostmarketOS CE.

@jeffalyanak @PINE64 my 5 years old Samsung also has a removable battery and currently me an others are working on a more or less working mainline kernel so we could get PostmarketOS on it...

@jeffalyanakThat's nice! Do you know how standard is the batterie? Will this format keep being produced? I've seen many non-standard removable batteries that were only produced for a year when the device went out. Since they all degraded at the same time and buying a new battery 4 years later was close to useless as its capacity was only marginally better than the one I was replacing...I do not want to sound critical, I appreciate the effort, just warning about potential issues.@PINE64

@jeffalyanak @PINE64 How easy is it to remove that back cover? I almost always go onto airplane mode when I leave home. I've never trusted airplane mode to turn off all of the radios. I suspect that there's at least one low-level radio that they probably keep on.Paranoid? Maybe, but nobody has ever been able to definitively tell me yes or know. And even if airplane mode works as advertised, bugs or malware can subvert it.
