When you microwave for 2 minutes do you press the 30 second button 4 times, or the 2, 0, 0 buttons?

@alex @lain microwave with dials is the best microwave. If it has buttons or """"""""""cooking programs""""""""""" it's just bunch of actual pure bloat that literally nobody I know uses. It only makes it harder to service because of electronics microwave by itself if pretty god damn simple device, even fridge is more complicated than that. One reason microwaves have elecctronics nowadays is just to compete and artificially make market diverse - look - that brand can cook lasaga, but this brand has soft touch buttons. Even electric kettle with electronics gives more convenience than that, or cofe maker.Husky_1591831398650_QODMOXMQAS.…

@alex @lain they bought my grandma a microwave that.... SAVES ELECTRICITY by going into... ""standby mode"" which means it......... won't display time and also react to other buttons except "exit standby mode"... To use the microwave, you first have to press "exit standby mode" and then +30 button several times.2-dial microwave consumes literally ZERO power when not in use or when the door is open.2-dial microwave consists of basically these components:1. Lamp2. Magnetron that generates the microwaves3. Motor that rotates the plate4. Rheostat (potentiometer) to adjust power5. Electromechanical timer for duration5.1. Bell that goes off when it's done, might as well be part of the timer itself6. breaker switch to turn it off when door is openedThe only advantages of electronic microwave:- might have wiring to keep the lamp on when door is open but then again mechanical one can also do this but they usually don't- might have clock function, rarely a timer to start cooking at given time which is kinda useless since you don't want to keep food out of fridge more than you should- precision, but let's face it, only 5-star chefs care about precision and they don't freaking use microwaves.- less physically moving parts (no rheostat, no timer, no bell, spring in timer won't go bad) but given that it's all off-the-shelves parts (except magnetron which is the heart of a microwave) while electronics is unique to a brand-model, it's kinda dubious tradeoff.
