Trip report: Zim and Org-mode are the only two open source personal wiki software tools worth a damn. Everything else needs hosting, node or more.#orgmode #emacs #zim #wiki #personalnotes

@ndegruchy vimwiki has its days. I'm waiting for Obsidian to get serious about their bug fixes, lots of weird UX annoyances. It isn't "free"/open-source however.Wikis unfortunately are like the "static hosting generator" or "blog" idea. Everyone gets excited about starting a new project, works on it for a while, and then... life gets back in charge and development and maintenance fall by the wayside. At least I can compose syncthing and vimwiki and git together.

@jautero I tried it. It seems like you need a server (local node, or similar) for it to be useful. No thanks.
