Anyone around with experience swimming in tannin-heavy (dark) lakes/ponds? Does the water sting your eyes?I recall some discomfort from when I swam in such water as a child, but I haven't done a lot of swimming since and it's possible it was just the same as low-tannin/"light" water and I just tolerated it better when I was older.(This is just writing research, nothing deep.)

@eishiya @maruki It depends on what’s in the water. And if it’s polluted. That’s ignoring bacteria.I used to skinny dip in a national park. That water was suitable for drinking if you removed debris & boiled it.Didn’t bother my eyes much. You may feel a little “discomfort” but it’d prolly go away.If it stings, prolly something in the water that shouldn’t be there. (Eg: Chlorine)1/2

@eishiya @maruki I’d recommend going underwater in a bathtub/bowl before you go into uncontrollable environments. If you see foam or anything abnormal. Don’t swim in it without protection & DON’T swallow if you can help it.2/2

@erxen Thanks! I should've mentioned that I meant otherwise most likely very clean water.I shall assume it's only the same discomfort as other water, all other things being equal. This isn't something I can test myself due to where I live, hence asking strangers on the Internet xP
