@mercurythedragon I feel like the name "rubber bullet" is purposely misleading so people envision, like, a 9mm bullet but made of rubber instead of the hulking monstrosities they actually are

@mercurythedragon New proposal: We provide riot police with paintball guns filled with balls that have either paint (for marking), or pepperspray (for deterring). Anything else would have to be tested, like rubber pellets.I mean, it's not like they don't already have lethal tools available, this would add a minimal amount of extra gear.

@ndegruchy @mercurythedragon They already have those. The photojournalist who lost her left eye a couple days ago was hit with a paintball. There is no such thing as a non-lethal, disabling weapon. Abolishing police is the only option.

@it_wasnt_arson @mercurythedragon I agree that it's not 100% safe/non-lethal. The problem is, no police is just as bad an option as just letting them trample on us.The better option, or at least a starting point would be to have comprehensive, transparent, civilian oversight and control of police departments **and** their associated internal affairs department.

@ndegruchy @mercurythedragon Violence is inherent to the institution of policing as we know it. An effective justice system will not and cannot include police per se, especially armed.

@it_wasnt_arson @mercurythedragon I disagree. I think that without police, vigilantism will just fill the void. Police, good or bad, make up a deterrent structure against wanton death, destruction and lawlessness. Whole components of society will fall apart only to be filled with mercenaries, willing to kill indiscriminately. Society without a stick to keep people from trashing it will inherently fall apart.

@it_wasnt_arson @mercurythedragon Just as a point of interest, I did some reading about Police Abolition and it sounds interesting, but very (if not overly) optimistic.https://www.chicagoreader.com/chicago/george-floyd-protests-police-abolition/Content?oid=80349691I think there is certainly room for reduction in police force and prison systems in lieu of reform and district improvements (to help keep people out of trouble, or help them back into 'normalcy'). I do, however, believe that there is still room for police work. I don't like or trust police, either.

@mercurythedragon Yes what you say is *partly* correct. I used to sell two varieties of standard NATO 9mm rubber bullets - basically, distinguished by the amount of powder in the case. The cartridges with the smaller charges were good in most cases for Automatic pistols, but in some circumstances one would need the higher energy rounds to chamber pistols with abnormally strong springs to affect the chambering of successive rounds. Also, the higher powered rounds were for targets further down range.I got mine as surplus from Israel, so these are the same rounds used by the IDF and other NATO troops to repel palestinian insurrections with less-lethal force. The bullets themselves actually were all rubber, but the part about bouncing a round off the ground, at least with respect to 9mm pistol rounds, is complete bullshit - it's too upredictable.Certainly, one *could* aim and acquire targets such as legs, but that is generally not practiced, as all police forces always train and practice to acquire the target "Center of Body Mass" - that means, aim for the middle of the torso and you should hit something most of the time. They certainly do NOT aim for the head, as you'll almost certainly miss the target completely much more often and hitting someone in the head isn't going to be any more affective than hitting them in the thorax or abdomen. If you're going to actually aim for some body part, and you have the luxury of doing so, the genitals are a good place on both men and women. But I think you're right in implying that our police shouldn't be using rubber bullets any longer. in 1992, when the Marines finally deployed to rescue us in Los Angeles, they were mostly using live ammo, a lot of 12 Ga shotguns, while the army used M-16's to great affect - the whole murderous insurrection was quelled in a couple of days when the murdering racists that were burning us ma and pa shop owners out by incinerating us with firebombs and sniping the firefighters trying to rescue us were ended, permanently to our relief.

@mercurythedragon Oh, I'm sorry, I failed to mention that it was my gun store that I used to sell that ammo from. I didn't actually make that clear lolz.Anyway, it wasn't very smart for people to try to firebomb people barricaded and beseiged inside their businesses with AR-15s, it kinda makes the douchebag trying to throw the molotov cocktail into your store turn into a ball of fire, and then run around until they fall down dead - making the world a better place for everyone except the racist bolsheviks trying to loot and kill families and their children. Like in the following article:https://nyti.ms/2XL40ZiI should also point out that during the L.A. riots in 1992 I didn't own a gun store (that came several years later), but rather a computer store and education center. We had to keep vigil in shifts, as the racist terrorists looting and murdering people were constantly assaulting us and trying to breech the barricades we had piled up by the store's windows to keep them at bay, yet we were besieged. We popped everyone of those motherfuckers that tried to firebomb us, which was kinda kewl actually, but were on our own for a couple of days cause the cops didn't do shit (not even to protect the firefighters getting sniped), and then there was the snafu with the 40th Infantry Division Guardsmen deployed into our area without live ammo at first. But they brought some marines in and when the Guard troops got their ammo they hosed those fuckers down like the dogs they were and we were once again safe. These racist terrorists out there killing and burning people will soon get their comeuppance and be zipped up in body bags too, and that's exactly what they deserve too.I hope that helps to #edjumacate you as to what it's really like to live through the middle of a riot as an actual victim and also, that it's the actual rioters who are the evil criminals that deserve to be dispatched with real bullets. Fuck those motherfuckers. I spit on their graves.
