@kev Nice post Kev. I really feel your energy bursting here! Love it! By the way, that made me think about my own project. And a question pops into my head: Can't I grow as u said "organically" my blog and still manage to make it known? Is it not what happened with your own personal site? @kev maybe ethical ads from codefund.io could be an option?Considering the amount of effort you put in, you deserve to get something out (even if that gets put back in!)

@globcoco yeah, you can certainly grow a site organically, it just takes a lot more time.It's down to getting into good SEO routines and, honestly, being lucky with a few posts.I've had a few posts hit the front page of Hacker News. That certainly helps.

@freddyym I don't think I'd go down the ad route, never say never though.I'd rather use affiliate links or something, so people get something out of it and I don't have ads splashed all over my site.Thanks for the kind words. 🙂

@kev fair enough. I'm on the fence for affiliates. If the audience gets something out of it then great, but at what point is it just for personal gain? Something for me to think about...

@kev Taking time is ok - maybe it's like permaculture: just have to take things slowly - although they also say that one needs begin small and to yield quickly - in an agile way...You mentionned "good SEO routines", "being lucky w/ a few posts" (writing well might help also I'd think) & hitting "the front page of Hacker News" (which would be your hub → I'd need to define mine)...Thanks a lot for your advice, Kev 😊

@freddyym I'm looking into codefund though - I've never heard of them. If I do go with ads, it will definitely be with them. Thanks for the link.The main advantage of affiliate links is that they're not dependant on visitor numbers.For example, if I publish a post and 5 people use an affiliate link, the kick back I'd get would be way more than ad revenue.Visitors wouldn't see ads, and it wouldn't cost them any more.

@kev Good read, I've been having the same debates, as I started to create seperate blogs, with TechZerker being about Tech amd Games, then a seperate general personally rambling blog, and then an Auto and Racing one... but I'm thinking similar... TechZerker is my main online ID beyond real name, so maybe it too just becomes an everything blog, and tags can help seperate if someone only wants to see Tech or Racing related content... hmm.
