@aldonogueira I need a messenger that:- doesn't require my mobile-# to sign up- offers a desktop and mobile client that is not using Electron (all my chat clients combined are currently using >30GB of my memory)- end-to-end encrypted, even for group chats- let's me send ephemeral messages- let's me connect with multiple devices concurrentlyNone of the existing solutions fit the bill here.

@fribbledom @aldonogueira XMPP?Conversations on Android, Dino on desktop, OMEMO is supported basically everywhere nowadays, message carbons are [x] nice.The only thing there that could be a problem is that if you want the messages to disappear, you'd have to find a server lacking message archive management - or use a room that forces no history.

@izaya I haven't gotten Dino to work properly, but who knows what's going on in the background.I also heavily dislike it for enforcing client-side decorations, which makes it super painful to use the app.@aldonogueira

@aldonogueira @fribbledom Just fired it up on my desktop, UI is alright enough.Very mobile-first, but I guess that's expected.No OMEMO support, though, so I'm going to leave it for another 6 months or so

@fribbledomNot too keen on #Dino either. Amongst the desktop clients, the one I *really* loved was #Kopete. Unfortunately it hasn't been maintained for coming to a decade now and it no longer compiles / runs on recent #OpenSUSE builds. But from a #UX point of view it was just the thing.@izaya @aldonogueira
