Bruce Wayne is a billionaire who goes into the poor neighborhoods and beats up people who have turned to a life of crime out of desperation. He could use his billions to make Gotham better but I'm sure he's the kind of guy who doesn't think he needs to pay his fair share of taxes. He's a terrible "Hero".

@art That's why he's not a hero. He's an "anti-hero", or a vigilante.Rorschach (Walter Kovacs) from The Watchmen is a great example of the exact same character archetype, only far less romantic and far more realistic for the kind of sickness it would take to put on a mask and and lay corporal punishment on anyone he deems as "bad."I love anti-heroes as I get a feeling of shadenfreude/catharsis from them, but I've got enough screws in place to see it for what it is: just more criminality.

@art preach. Used to love him, but now I see as more interesting characters Jason Todd or Poison Ivy. She killed greedy millionaires that wanted to destroy nature, how did they not think about making her the hero?

@art depends on which interpretation of Bruce Wayne you are dealing with. His father was a big philanthropist, and I think Bruce did a lot of that.I like to think he only goes after the "untouchables" that the authorities can't touch due to corruption. He has been known to show mercy to the henchmen when warranted.

@art August Fenwick/"The Red Panda" is a much better hero!He understands the dynamics which led to the crime he fights, is concerned they're exacerbating this Great Depression desperation, is secretly quite the philanthropist (though the story doesn't focus on that, beyond setting traps for his more colourful villains), and hypnotises other millionaires/billionaires to give away their wealth.
