The bases of these mushrooms are all fuzzy looking. Are they growing mycelium? And if so, can I remove the caps, plant the bases, and grow new mushrooms?

@InvaderXan It is growing new mycelium, but I don't know if you can grow new ones from them. Compared to oyster mushrooms, button mushrooms are surprisingly difficult to grow.

@jollymnemonic @InvaderXan I’ve heard of harvesting spores and making sprays or such that you can inoculate growing mediums with and transplanting mycelium that was in the soil but I haven’t heard of directly getting mycelium off the fruiting body of a mushroom. As far as I know it doesn’t work like taking a cutting off a plant

@Pawdraig @jollymnemonic @InvaderXan I haven't played with the fun guys in a while (hopefully again soon!) but you can actually clone mushrooms from just a part, even BLENDING THEM UP, they're really wild animals: https://blog.freshcapmushrooms.com/learn/how-to-clone-mushrooms/

@nak @jollymnemonic @InvaderXan ooh, neat..I always laugh tho when people growing mushrooms say “it’s easy”! And then talk about having a flow hood and working with sterilized lab equipment to grow mycelium

So there's this Japanese expression, 十人十色, which essentially means, ask 10 people the same question and you'll get 10 different answers. I feel like the replies to this post from earlier demonstrate this fairly well.I feel like the replies are averaging out as a maybe minus?
