Whenever I watch Pewdiepie it feels weird. Like, his content is usually watchable, but it's usually *just* watchable. I don't really understand how he's the biggest YouTuber.

@niggaflamebuttholeaids I think the appeal is pretty broad. Actually, what first got me watching him a couple years ago was a friend suggesting it. He's in his early 30s.

@dave I think it is because it is a brainless thing to watch. A lot of people who watch YouTube want to watch something entertaining, not to think about stuff.

@dave But his flirtation with broader content has been a recent development, it’s not how he initially grew, and he’s not the untoppable force of nature that he was 5 years ago.

@dave the most recent video was pretty cringe.he like lost his words twice and didn't bother to edit it out.

@Xyc0 I mean, there are strategic reasons to leave your struggle with words in. But that's part of why I don't get how he's so huge. There's almost no production value there.

@dave no clue. I can't even stand his LPs, and those are supposedly what got him the most traction early on.

@dave sounds like the design of Garfield, but with different attributes.Creator Jim Davis has said he never intended for Garfield to be consistently funny; instead he went for unfailingly inoffensive and comfortable. Like morning coffee.Pewdiepie might be offensive -- I dunno; I don't watch him. But I'll bet he's carefully cultivated a look and feel to his videos so that you always know you won't be challenged as a viewer.

@dave he was posting daily when other channels we're just figuring that out.it's a lot of timing and luck though I'm sure he thinks he's putting in the effort.
