Any of you wonderful people know of a way to easily display multiple RSS feeds in a single page?Thinking about adding a public feed collated of all the RSS feeds within the blogroll on #100DaysToOffload I'm sure it's possible, but if any of you folks can save me a handful of DDG searches to work it out, I'd be ever so grateful. 🙂

@kev I guess writing a script would be a good solution, I have most experience with PHP so that's what I would use. What language are you using on the backend?

@yarmo there is no language on the backend. The site is just plain old HTML/CSS. The serve does have PHP installed for WP though. My thinking was something a public TT-RSS instance where anyone can read, but only I can add/edit feeds.

@kev I don't understand exactly what do you mean.Anyway, this program fetches a list of rss feeds and generates an html preview of the lastest 3 posts. Probably there's also a flag to fetch more than 3 posts.https://git.sr.ht/~sircmpwn/openringHope this helps in some way.

@kev how about I make a PHP script that merges multiple RSS feeds and returns a RSS feed? Can you display a RSS feed on WP?

@yarmo I'm not using WordPress on the 100days site any more. It's plain HTML/CSS now. I need something to then aggregate and display that feed.I see that FreshRSS offers an anonymous reading option. I may use that.

@kev I looked around my TT-RSS instance and I think there may be a way I can set it up for that. I can write a filter that selects all of the participating blogs and add an action that automatically publishes them to a feed accessible by anyone.@yarmo

@amolith @kev the finest RSS aggregator I have found, but its dev made me switch to the second best I know, FreshRSS.Multiple occasions, he has shown to be self-centered and rude. Last time I still cared for TT-RSS, he went after the fine linuxserver people.https://discourse.linuxserver.io/t/tt-rss-image-gone/866 (for reference)https://community.tt-rss.org/t/versioning-changes-for-trunk/2974/20 (the link to take offense to)Interesting overall overview of his mindset. He's not getting my CPU cycles.

@yarmo I value the work LinuxServer.io does but I personally have a very low opinion of an entirely automated and container-based workflow so I do see where the TT-RSS developer is coming from. However, I agree with you that he and the others on the forum are being MUCH more hostile than the situation warrants. On a side note, the change to their release model means I won't get notifications when I need to update it 😕 @kev

@kev Well it's done lol. I went through the #100DaysToOffload tag on Fosstodon and Twitter, found RSS feeds for blogs that had them and used RSS-Bridge for blogs that didn't and added them to TT-RSS. I planned to do it anyway so it wasn't any trouble. From there, I published posts whose date was set after the 24th. Any new ones that come in will be published automatically and it's all accessible via the page linked above (which is a feed itself).

@kev Reading it directly isn't the greatest so, if you link to it on anything, I would recommend saying something about pasting that URL into a feed reader for a better experience 😉

@amolith @yarmo @kev wow :( I don't really understand the mocking and taunting. Felt like reading some junior high kids talk. Its seems strange to me to update on container start. I always is em to encounter bugs with containers that do this. To me containers should be tagged, if we both use the same tag we will get the same end result 100% of the time. Containers aren't about just easy but repeatability.

@kev Yep! Once I subscribe to the feed, I'll go through and manually publish posts that were already created. TT-RSS's shortcuts will make that quick and simple. All new posts after subscribing will automatically show up as soon as TT-RSS pulls in the feeds.

@kevAh I didn't notice the blogroll. It won't be automated but I can set something up that will notify me if you change the page along with what was added/removed. From there, I can find the feed, subscribe to it, and start publishing their posts

@kevIf it gets to be too much work, I can always write a script to automate the majority of it. Now that I have an always-on desktop, I can make a cronjob that runs a web scraper every little bit, checks if you changed the page, visits the new URL, looks for either an Atom or RSS feed, then presents that to me in some manner. Shouldn't be too bad 😉
