One of those USB magnetic cables just shorted and started melting. Luckily my phone seems to have survived with minor damage.

@glow Perhaps solvent (lösungsmittel) can get rid of that?

@laggard Yes, I just recently ran out of solvent because @draemmli ate it or something. But more is already on its way.

@laggard I'm more amazed that the phone, not even the USB port, got seriously damaged.

@glow Yea, quite surprising! A phone probably has a better power circuit than, say, a RasPi, which would've probably died

@laggard I think, because the plug shorted with itself now power was actually transferred into the phone.

@laggard It would probably have started burning, had I not reacted so fast. I am quite worried about using more of these USB cables now, even though I have been using them for years now.

@glow Perhaps standard cables are more reliable?

@laggard Maybe. But the data is inconclusive. It may just have been a freak occurrence. Or caused by an external influence. Like I've been playing with magnetic ball bearings for a while now, maybe there was a lot of magnetic dust, that would have been attracted to the magnetic cable.

@glow Oh, yeah perhaps that might be it. Well... your call on what sorts of cables you use next!
