Backblaze, rsync.net and borgbase are all about the same price*IF* I use Duplicati for the clients I can leverage any of those storage engines for offsite data backupsProblem is egress on some providers *cough*backblaze*cough* can get expensive if something catastrophic happens and you have say ~10Tb of shit stored (like I do)

@sungo Yeah, I'm looking at b2 in particular.rsync.net and borgbase are similar pricing if I use it as a storage thingy similar to s3 or azure blobI have an e-mail out to rsync.net as they claim to have discounts for borg only plans and if the price is right I think I may do something like Duplicati (daily backups + smart retention) -> NAS -> borg -> [cloud provider]With that setup I'll be backed by pure OSS software and only ever give a fuck about a cloud storage endpoint with gobs of storage on the cheap

@sungo I will say b2 jumped out pricing wise really really fast ; it's one of the few tabs I left open while digging through options

@sungo Much appreciated :)(Sorry if i've got a tone/edge/grumpy ; this shit show was dropped in my lap without warning AND it was done by a dumbass boomer who is using the shutdown as an excuse to rework the entire building where i have an offsite office space)

@sungo Yeah it was a massive mess but by the time the nuked the non-enterprise stuff I had already moved to their enterprise offering which is still maintained (albeit on life support it appears) for existing customers. Now that the Crashplan stuff has been scrubbed fully minus a few notes about legacy services... time to shuffle my stuff around againThis is also telling me I really need to hang my hat on the OSS side of sync and backup software. This is the third time in the last 15 years or so I got burned by a company overhauling their offerings / killing services.

@kemonine doesn't #Backblaze offer recovery on HDD by regular mail, with a full refund if you return the drive within a certain period?

@FiXato Looks like there is an option for something along those lineshowever, i am working with more than a few folks who are not close and i don't have direct access to a computer for something like thatit was one of the first things i thought of before i had to fall back

@kemonine I set that up once, quite some time ago, and I remember I was glad to be done with it, lol.Perhaps increasing verbosity of LogLevel can shed some light?IIRC one of my issues at first was placing the authorized_keys (or rather its .ssh dir) too deep in the directory structure (in my setup it would have to be in /home/sftp/username/.ssh rather than /home/sftp/username/jailroot/.ssh)

@kemonine is there a specific reason you want to use sftp-server rather than internal-sftp?

@FiXato Sorry, it's internal-sftpI read my config wrongLooks like the chroot folder needs to be owned by root and sub folders can be owned by the userBut the chroot folder can't be owned by the user for some reason....

@FiXato Based on a quick search now that i figured out WTF is happening this appears to be intentional behavior from internal-sftp🤷 The contents of the server aren't exposed and Duplicati is working nowI'm calling it 'good enough' for the time being as I'm in a major time crunch

@FiXato me tooI'm breathing a massive sigh of relief right about now.I cannot wait to verify more of this system so I can ensure that I can call Code42 and attempt to cancel whatever remains of my one subscription
