Just when you are trying to help, you discover Folding@Home only offers .deb and .rpm -- which miserably fail to install on #slackware of course.I'll check if slackbuilds has a solution. If not, a qemu virtual machine should do the trick.

@ParadeGrotesque Another way to play is https://boinc.berkeley.edu/No slack, but sources and docker in addition to the usual suspects.

@ParadeGrotesque alien doesn't work for you?Description: convert and install rpm and other packages Alien allows you to convert LSB, Red Hat, Stampede and Slackware Packages into Debian packages, which can be installed with dpkg. . It can also generate packages of any of the other formats.

@twovoyagers I thought about alien, but there are so many errors, just trying to install the rpm, I suspect the latest version really thinks it is running on a systemd-enabled system...Not worth wasting a lot of time trying to make this work on a Slackware machine, IMHO.

@ParadeGrotesque I'd have gone with the deb, but I can understand it not being worth the bother. Before BOINC I used to run seti@home. When they changed to BOINC it became incompatible with what I was running at the time (redhat 7.2? I think) and it was more trouble to upgrade OS than I thought it was worth to keep donating CPU time. Lost all my seti@home stats, but I guess that's what happens...🤷🏻‍♂️
