       @salixlucida my old boss said that many are owned by Chinese real estate investors as kind of place-holder businesses.  I’m not sure if that’s true or some type of xenophobic hypothesis but I suppose it’s possible.  But I think it’s one of those things where out in SE you have a lot of homeless people with stuff and nowhere affordable or transient to put it.  So I think probably to capitalize off the needs of that population probably is a big part.
