@liaizon Is there public discussion happening anywhere about how redistributing the responsibility for running sunbeam.city might work? #SunbeamCity #SBC

@liaizon @mossbriar Are we abandoning the discourse instance?

@squeakypancakes @mossbriar why would you think that? I just wanted a private place that felt a little safer and that had the ability to be real time for discussing some things.

@liaizon I do not, as I'm typically resistant to setting new accounts up. If that's what it takes to participate in the discussion, is it okay to spread the word about where it's happening and why? (I'm assuming there are usability reasons this isn't just a thread on Mastodon, but I don't actually know.) I'm serious enough about helping to set up Matrix even if I wish most of the conversation could happen over here.

@mossbriar I wanted to have someplace that had the ability to be more private then here and not as fragile to randos chiming in and derailing the conversation.

@squeakypancakes @liaizon I tried to sign up, currently waiting for technical supportThe discussion there is at least viewable by anyone with a Web browser, which I think is a plus for lowering barrier to entry.

@liaizon Real time is fine and all but most of use dont live in the same time zones and having a conversation that we can follow is useful. We have had problems with people not being able to follow on matrix before and using loomio was our fix for that.

@squeakypancakes I am not "in charge" of anything other then that I have a handful of passwords. you are welcome to start all the discussions you want on the discourse and am happy to use that place too. I personally would like a place that has the potential to have instant secure messaging with anyone so as to figure out interpersonal issues much faster and in a secure way.

@squeakypancakes @liaizon I agree that reading a single-thread chat history is probably going to be harder for someone who wants to understand what happened later than reading a forum thread. I'm biased towards (at least eventual) transparency.

@mossbriar there are a ton of things to figure out. You are free to start some threads or continue some threads in the Discourse and I am happy to participate there as well. There was already a Sunbeam matrix group that had a ton of past discussions in it. I simply made a new one for a specific issue.

@liaizon DMs on mastodon are prolly the best for one on ones with people.

@squeakypancakes I seriously disagree since admins can read all DMs, and the second an user on another instance is in a 3 way discussion then the admin on that instance can read all DMs.
