       @Meeper lol, no problem.Not really. I read something about "free" social network for replacing facebook, twitter, instagram, etc etc but i am a bit confused about making account on istance, for example.I just noticed i can follow users and posts of other istances, so: why i have to choose one for my subscription?

       @ottobin Mastodon and by extension the fediverse (which I will explain later) behaves in a decentralized manner like email; where you can sign up with any provider; you can host or join any mastodon instance, this is done so that their is no centralized authority over administration and allows better local community and moderation.

       @ottobin Now the mastodon instance 'federates' ie connects and communicates with other instances allowing you to follow or post on another community.This is the basic rundown, I'd give a little more info on the culture, the underlying stuff: activitypub, how it can interact with clients that don't even use mastodon et cetra.rn I need to sleep lol (maybe)
