Also Australia ran out of toilet paper.(That's a really funny sentence, but seriously.)Due to mass panic buying from fears for the Coronavirus, most shelves in Australia grocery stores are empty.Especially for toilet paper, as we often over-evaluate how much we need and they are hard to stock because of the space they take.Woolworth, an Australian grocer, will, implement a system of communism-like "toilet paper rations" to avoid running out as soon as they restock.

More: https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/mar/03/toilet-paper-is-trending-in-australia-heres-whyNeeding to stock toilet paper makes sense, but please remember a roll lasts an average of one week per person. You really don't need as much as you may think.

@fluffy This is actually something I read, but I guess it might depend on the rolls themselves yeah, but also especially, on the person. (I use more toilet paper than I should)

@NekoSock I took a family-size bunch of toilet paper (it is quite annoying to transport by feet so I wanted to avoid it) when I got a flat and it lasted for a serious while.

@sowth I am not sure but I have a theoryA fake news circulated in Japan that toilet paper manufacturers were based in Wuhan, and as such there was going to be a shortage soon since they were closed downPeople in Japan *nearly* caused a shortage until manufacturers reassured everyone there would be toilet paper for everyone. I am not sure if this is related to Australia's shortage, but this was the first time I had heard of toilet paper shortage related to the coronavirus.it is possible Australians saw the news of the panic in Japan and didn't see it was due to a fake news and as such thought they would experience one too.
