Coincidentally this film HAS to be why Slater got the part in Mr. Robot... in my head canon... Mr. Robot is a sequel to Pump Up The Volume.

@TheGibson I paid like $25 for a used copy of the soundtrack on CD last year so I could rip it into my collection and now relisten to it every month or so (as I will again tonight now)

@deejoe @djsundog @thegibson The soundtrack features Kick Out the Jams, which means that the movie contains a retroactive reverse KLF reference and is part of the "Illuminatus!" universe.

@TheGibson The real question is, did JD from Heathers relocate after faking his death and take up a less-direct-action, but just as apocalyptic vision? I think clearly yes. Then he picked up some weapons skills from the cops in Kuffs, before going full gangster in True Romance.

'Pump up the Volume' has had a huge influence on me. One of the first cultural works I remember based on a 'become the media' trope.@deejoe @djsundog @TheGibson
