Hot take: HTML is the best document format. Text editors are the best writing tools.Word processors are a usability nightmare, I cannot for the life of me understand how to use the and when I do, all of the menus make my head explode 🤯 Why do we need such complex software to write some text? It's ridiculous!

@hugot Completely agree that word processors are garage. Microsoft Word set a pretty shitty bar that became popular and mimicked pretty hardcore in all of the word processor clones. Not sure I agree on HTML being the best document format though. Had you said markdown, we'd basically be brothers at this point 😆

@Clifford @hugot Wordperfect, back in the DOS days, had a shortcut (I think it was F11) that revealed its internal market codes, so if you had a misaligned table, you could see what the editor was doing under the surface. Wordperfect for Windows had one of the best grammar checks fro that era as well. I haven't tried it since Corel bought it.Libreoffice is decent enough today, but I still prefer writing in Markdown or even LaTeX; using that for web or print.
