@kev I've had a mixed experience with "HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw".- Even though it's HP, hplip doesn't support it (yet).- IPP Everywhere and driverless printing work. So out of the box support on Debian stable and Fedora at least. Not clear if it would have worked on the shipped firmware version though.- The original firmware version was awful and the printer crashed a lot while idle.- Windows was required to update the firmware. But the new version is much better at least.

@kev Any HP LaserJet Pro model. All have open source Linux drivers built into most distros with hplip. You can double check the model with hplip to be sure. Mine even works over WiFi.

@kev farblaser drucker sind sehr selten, die meisten "laser drucker" sind heutzutage led drucker. Insbesonders bei farbe und im consumer bereich. (immer schwer herauszubekommen ob es echte Laser drucker sind)

@kev the oldest HP you can get used which fits all the bills? that strategy always worked for me with b&w lasers.

@kevJust so HP wont be the only brand mentioned in this thread, I own a Brother DCP9015-CDW multifunction printer which has worked great for me. I'm sure there are newer models so worth considering.

@kev haven't researched for a while, but HP LaserJet has excellent rep for driver compatibility.

@kev A bit older, but Xerox's Phaser 6500 has a CUPS package available on their site. It's been my workhorse color laser printer for a decade now.

Any one from https://www.openprinting.org/printers that you can conveniently buy in your area?I have a Samsung CLP-415N and it works more or less nicely¹, but I'm not sure if that model is still available.I'd recommend something with an ethernet interface and postscript support for less hassles during configuration.¹ The old HP I've had earlier for more than a decade was more reliable, but it was from a time when even entry level colour laser printers costed a bit more (about an arm), and I've heard that nowadays to get that reliability you have to go up one step into the "arm and a leg" professional use price range.

@kev had to abandon a working Samsung when they stopped selling supplies and it didn't like 3rd party toner. Now using an hp lj pro 452, wonder how long I will be able to get consumables...Didn't like hp's new massive data collection practices, but seems mostly a Windows driver issue. Prompted me to go through every setting and disable anything that sounded fishy, though.

@kevIf you need multifunction, Lexmark have a decent lineup.
