@REX I believe CBS did the same with the last series which was a fee based series. I had so looked forward to the series until just before release I discovered it was all about social issues. All the cast came out publicly to state their support for social issue 1 to 99. So disappointed.Net result is I didn't watch a single episode. Leftist ruin everything.

@REX I've probably only seen a few of Next Generation. Didn't care for it or him. Picard struck me as too snooty, talk things to death. Boring...I grew up loving science fiction/space shows/movies (although Alien was a major turn-off). Wanted to like Star Trek, just couldn't like that one or the most recent incarnations. Loved the first Star Wars, by the time the second trilogy started I was getting bored. Haven't seen a second of the most recent ones and don't care.

@MAGATrump @REX About 15 to 20 years ago I'd suffer through the insufferable movies HW was putting out. I'd take the family because it was something we all enjoyed doing together. I usually left sorely disappointed, though. The only movies I go to now are animated kiddie movies. Took the wife and my baby boy to see Abominable. My little boys eyes stayed glued the entire movie.

@baldilocks I never watched ST:Discovery. I abandoned the Star Trek fandom universe right around 2015. I stick with TOS now. To me it's just a TV show again. I think Hollywood would come up with better ideas for Star Trek if they did not think of it as more than that. At a convention I was at, writers were told at a panel to create a universe in order to write science fiction or graphic novels. I like simple.@REX
