in the middle of the new video on "canceling". I wasn't really aware of all the drama when it happened - but per her recap, it seemed like she was okay, and not being hateful toward enbies. I think she makes valid points about canceling and social media as a whole. If that's a bad take, I would really appreciate it if someone could explain why.

@lunchgirl i'm not following closely but wasn't one of the things shes being criticized for is supporting a porn star who had a bad take? because if "support sex workers unless they have the wrong opinion, then don't" is the new rule good luck to anyone trying to follow these bullshit rules

update after finishing the video - it was a little long winded and maybe uncomfortably irreverent at times (the long string of tweet bashing, for one) but that the jokes fit her usual style, and it still seems fair to bow off steam in her situation. idk.

@lunchgirl Just watched it - I agree with you, but of course the cancel culture mob did everything she predicted they would do

@bubblebobbletrueend she apparently had a trans male porn star and activist do a voiceover in one of her videos, and people asserted that he's problematic (apparently due to a past incident where he outed a trans person, and some language he's used that could be interepreted as anti-enby), and that she was problematic by association.porn stars can have good and bad opinions like any other person - I'd get the outrage of natalie had agreed with bigotry and outing of people outright, but instead her crime seems to just be not denigrating the actor - it's guilt by association.

@lunchgirl i'm upset more with youtube than i am with obscure twitter communities for hurting the careers of certain young creators who were taking their work in a creative new direction that was comparable in production value and meaningful content to something you might pay for, but for free. when they shut down alt-right monitization they also shut down a lot of other interesting content at the same time which was generally no worse than what could be aired on tv essentially guranteeing that youtube will never evolve past makeup tutorials and gameplay footage. this makes the fact a channel like contrapoints is being cancelled disproportionally impactful because for example her videos hardly ever appear on the front page of youtube even if you've watched a lot of related content making it much harder for anyone to find her
