WOW. HOLLYWOOD in freefall. Can anyone really be surprised by this? They are making rubbish. Apart from rare movies that are OK, the majority are like attending the worst sunday school - preachy, boring and woke pap.Netflix is also suffering for the same reasons. How on earth they thought getting into bed with Obama was a good idea, is anyone's guess.Their job is to ENTERTAIN. Fail to do this and everyone walks away.https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/amp/news/us-box-office-2019-revenue-falls-4-percent-sharpest-decline-5-years-1264724

@REX >> I'm finding it harder & harder to find any movie on weekends in Albuquerque to see. When the new Venue comes out on Fridays, I go thru the bargain listings first & cross out all that are not even worth checking trailers. Sometimes none are left.I then go thru the listings for the main movie houses & might find only 1 or 2 worth considering.Good movies like "Richard Jewell" are rare.So many are about violence & stupid themes.

@REX Hollywood & their entertainers are all intertwined in the same “club”. Big mouthed, overpaid actors, singers, directors, etc who think we care about THEIR opinions! We know who they serve and why they serve.Let them all go down in flames together.

@REX do you remember “Pay it forward” with a real young Haley Joel Osmet where he befriends a homeless guy.About 30 years ago That was the first time I remember leaving a movie frustrated I was being preached to instead of entertainment. I know tell my grandkids when we see a movie “ you know animals eat each other & Zootopia is a bunch of hogwash”. Point out all the BS

@REX I agree movies are getting worse.IMHO this is a result of the Obama thought police enforcement of "social justice" edicts on screenwriters. If their script doesn't meet certain criteria for diversity of race, religion, sex orientation, etc.. then the movie is condemned in the DNC controlled media and suffers the resulting financial loss at the box office. These unconstitutional constraints on screenwriters make it difficult to write anything entertaining.

@REX Almost all of this year's box office came from Disney - $10 billion of it in fact. All the other studios made virtually nothing. The film industry is basically being propped up by one single company. Take that company away and we are looking at a total industry COLLAPSE.

@WarriorPoet @REX Easy to remember the last time I was in a theatre, I came out to hear about the Sandy Hook murders. By that point, the only movies I had been to in years were space/LOTR fantasy based. At home I rely on a ROKU and varied streaming. Prefer older shows/movies. Especially pre-1960s movies.Actually watched old British crime series where some endings showed the criminal having a noose placed on their neck, everyone walked out, then the sound of a trap door falling open.

@REX exactly. I left the Star Trek, Star Wars, and Doctor Who fandoms when the producers decided wokeness trumped any potential entertainment value. (Never did entirely get into comics)

@REX I haven't been to the theatre in a while. The only movie I could actually be bothered to watch this year was Joker. As a kid me and my family would go to the movies once every month or two. Now it's only once a year at the most. Last year I didn't go at all. What a shame. I used to like the cinema but now it just serves as a reminder of a dead medium that was killed by virtue signalling scumbags with nothing to do besides force their ideologies down our throats.

@karnage @REX >> We have enjoyed many Clint Eastwood movies over the last couple decades. He is at a point in his life where he can tackle important topics that others want to avoid. He then does it in a balanced way that often causes me to think about some issue in a different way.Clint Eastwood doesn't just entertain, he helps us examine various issues in a different way.

@redwhitebluedude @REX I watched Rise of Skywalker last week with my son. He enjoyed it and I just I kept my opinions to myself because he doesn't understand how KK destroyed the character arcs. I loved Luke and Leia's characters was I was a kid. KK took a wrecking ball to what made the original three movies special for a whole generation.

@redwhitebluedude @REX This looks great. Gal Gadot is strong and sexy, like Lynda Carter's WW back in the 70's. I noticed that they set it in1984, the same time period as the second season of Stanger Things. Good use of Blue Monday as well. I was a bit surprised at the reappearance of a certain character from the past. :)

@redwhitebluedude @REX I only liked the originals. When the first of the new ones came out -don’t know the name /don’t care to- the acting/plot and overuse of CGI - it put me off all the rest. Hollywood has been on a mission to only produce sequels and remakes - nothing new or creative.@ThomasWic can probably enlighten us more as to the exact history of it but I assume it has something to do with the studios loosing power to the “artists”. Now all they do is make “B” rated movies.

@karnage @RAD @REX I took my daughter (18 y/o soldier) to see Richard Jewell. She kept leaning over and asking if "this really happened." The more I told her yes, the more angry she got. On the way home I told her that the movie was made by Clint Eastwood She looked shocked and asked, "that old guy from Grand Torino???" I had to explain that he has been a badass since before I was born. 🤣
