@prchrskd I'm always skeptical of these studies. I actually eat a lot of red meat for the iron content. As a female, my iron is always low, so I have to eat things high in iron to combat it. Red meat is one of the ways I do it!

@umad80 Nina Teicholz is a wonderful nutrition journalist to follow. She wrote a book called, The Big Fat Surprise. Years in the making. She's more of a journalist than our news journalists are journalists. If that makes sense. Our nutrition has been run by crap science which is basically what she's been saying for years.

@prchrskd Which is most likely why they're constantly changing guidelines. One minute eggs are bad, then they're good again, now they're bad.... I don't trust any of it. I'll have to read this woman more.

@umad80 I have three grandparents that made it into their nineties eating meat, eggs, cream, butter etc. My grandma that lived to be 99 was an office worker so it's not like she was out running or doing anything to keep herself extra healthy. They ate three square meals a day and skipped dessert or bread at supper if they felt like they were putting on a pound or two. That's it.

@prchrskd @umad80 50 years ago, the Lefties started with their "overpopulation" gambit. This pre-dated "global cooling".They began to flood government "food pyramid" publications with "cows take up WAY MORE land and resources than plant foods".Thus, "cows bad" , "plants good"...and then followed the fabricated "studies" showing...'gasp'..."cows bad", "plants good""Get rid of cows because SOYLENT GREEN!!"

@prchrskd My grandfather lived to be 97 and his favorite food was beef fat!!! But he never ate processed foods and bragged that he had never eaten in a fast food restaurant. At time of his stroke, which in 6 months ended his life, he stood 6'5", 240lbs, and posture that was straight as a stick. He lived a great life & ate anything he wanted.

@WeGrowWeary I think a lot of it is not only that they didn't eat processed food, but that they only ate at mealtime. As children we were given a snack when we came in from school to hold us over until supper, but that was a small portion compared to what we give our kids nowadays.
