I currently working on a classical music library on the open.audio Funkwhale instance. Since I want the library to be public I'm searching for classical music in the public domain or with a Creative Commons license. So any tip is much appreciated.Example of an album that I added to the libraryhttps://open.audio/library/albums/7065/#funkwhale #music #classical

@ericbuijs I'd try the internet archive.

@patchman Thanks. Yes the Internet Archive is very good however from lot's of uploads it's hard to verify if the license information is correct. In fact I'm pretty sure that many uploads falsely claim Creative Common licenses.

@ericbuijs Could be, you might want to take the risk and if anyone despute it, you could refer back to archive and take it down if it is a valid claim.I've gotten these from archive:Tchaikovsky - Nutcracker Ballethttps://archive.org/details/TCHAIKOVSKYNutcrackerBalletcompleteRichard Strauss - Also Sprach Zarathustrahttps://archive.org/details/uso20000527Tchaikovsky - The Last Three Symphonieshttps://archive.org/details/PeterIlijcTchaikovskyTheLastThreeSymphonies

@patchman Seems like a reasonable approach certainly with old performances I suppose the risks are pretty low.BTW: thanks for the links

@ericbuijsYou have probably already checked on Jamendo but I have just found a piece of Mozart http://jamen.do/t/1169718... Is it the kind of thing you are looking for?

@Nofb64000 Thanks indeed a great tip. As a matter of fact I hadn't heard of it. Apparently Creative Commons license but I'll check with MusicBrainz Picard to be sure.

@Nofb64000 I discovered that Jamendo changed their licenses from Creative Commons to "free streaming / free download" for personal use. That's too bad, I can't use it for my public Funkwhale library anymore.

@ericbuijsMaybe this is the fault of a French trial that requires customers of free music from Jamendo still pay a fee to #sacem and other thieves
