I genuinely have no clue what the deal with flushing the toilet while someone in the shower is. I only knew it from cartoons but never in my life, in any circumstances, has it been the slightest concernIs that even a real thing or does it only exist in cultural memory

@socalledunitedstates I *think* one of the houses I grew up in it was an issue. It increases the draw on cold water, which means if your shower temp is based on balancing the amount of each coming through, then suddenly you'll have a much higher proportion of hot water.

@swift @socalledunitedstates That's odd; in every house I've ever lived in (including my current residence), flushing the toilet while using the shower makes the shower water cold.

@TwoVealCutlets @socalledunitedstates @swift Speculation: Could be the bimetal mixer valve in the shower overcompensating? Or possibly compensating just right when the cold water pressure goes low, but then being too slow to fall back when the pressure goes back up.
