@bazurk matrix is an absolutely abominable, overcomplicated protocol papered over by good UI designersit'll never scale, and it's so centralised as an ecosystem because people are literally *unable to host it*but it's still foss so hey

@steph I wonder if they'll host their own server and learn…Hosting an IRC server is very easy and most implementations are very solid.Meanwhile I think you could crash down a matrix server by just pocking it a bit too hard.

@freon @steph Personally I hate VoIP and mumble is by far the least worst because of how much you can manage on it, by comparison Discord is the equivalent of a noisy classroom.

@steph @toast @bazurk And the same could be said for the clients…Like to do it the pleroma way, GnuSocial was at least workable for a server so you could write another client for it and then replace the server.
