why I don't like a job in IT?I don't want to spend 8hours a day working infront of a screen just to afford to spend another 5 hours infront of another screen.

@Sujee read some cyberpunk, books on hacking, etc etc. there is a lot of content that's still relevant to your interests but won't leave you with existential dread (unless it's about how we're all doomed, lol :sweatdrop: )

@Sujee alright, let's do some brain dumping hereold but good:- True Names (I'll link you; hard to find and it's a short story): this should whet your appetite- Snow Crash by Neil Stephenson; old school cyberpunk. ninja delivering pizzas sound interesting? They have something called the Metaverse :hmmyes: - Neuromancer by William Gibson: computer hacker battling an AI. He wrote this in 1984!If those don't hold your attention the #1 rule of reading is to read widely and don't be discouraged. It's OK to not like something or not be into the vibe of a book. Set it aside, pick something else up. It's also OK to be reading multiple books at the same time; you don't need to grind through to the end before you pick up another!Something the Fedvierse should be swooning over:- Elysium by Jennifer Marie Brissett: a computer simulation that keeps crashing and the characters come back over and over again knowing they're in love with each other but their gender and race keeps changing because of the computer errors. This book gives you some feels.Really good modern-ish shit:- Zeroes by Chuck Wendig: Hacker team forced to work for the NSA. Wild shit happens. Very fun. Sequel is called Invasive and is about genetic engineering ants.- Radicalized by Cory Doctorow: 4 short stories about tech, IOT, social media, etc. Dystopian. Fun. Horrifying.- Altered Carbon by Richard K Morgan: Imagine your existence is downloaded into a chip placed at the base of your skull. You can live forever if you're rich. Backup your mind to the cloud. Rich people can buy "clones" to download into if they want to experience a new body. Or if they're sick with something as simple as the common cold and don't want the inconvenience: download to new clone, destroy the old body. Prisoners are put in storage and rich people can buy their bodies and use them. Takeshi was serving time. He has been downloaded into a fresh clone and needs to solve a murder/suicide. Netflix series started last year and closely matches the book with only a few details changed.- Autonomous by Annalee Newitz: AI, robots, and a ragtag team illegally 3D printing patented drugs to save people's lives. Dystopian as fuck, why do the rich only get to live?- Walkaway by Cory Doctorow: Open source hackers living a nomadic life with automation building their societies as they try to perfect immortality by downloading into a computer before the rich do it and finish destroying the world.- REAMDE by Neil Stephenson: action, adventure. hackers, espionage, utilizing the successor to World of Warcraft to organize crime, smuggle drugs from Canada, etc.I can come up with more if you need.
