Tom Clancy called it a "canary trap."What you do is feed suspected leakers information that has "markers" in it.Let's say you have ten people who might be leakers.You feed each one a slightly different version of the same story.When a particular version of the story appears in the press, you can trace it back to the leakers.

When Michael Flynn was National Security Advisor, he chose civilians and former members of the Defense Intelligence Agency who had never been photographed.They were all given Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TC/SCI) clearance.After Flynn resigned, they all kept their TC/SCI clearance.And they all disappeared.

Officially, H. R. McMaster fired them, but I was unable to trace a single person after Flynn resigned.AND.The people I was able to identify were NOT doing the jobs that the press reported.Every single one had a NOC (non-official cover) story.These were the Leak Killers. They went into the bowels of the Washington bureaucracy and hunted down leakers.

@ThomasWic @Dawnz I never heard the term âbarium mealâ until recently, most likely due to Mr. Wictorâs writing.I was aware of the concept for a very long time though, to catch a false friend or snitch. Tell 3 similar stories to 3 people ( I obviously didnât have a lot of friends) and see which comes back. Voila.

@ThomasWic Trump views everything as a Businessman. Politicians just look to cut deals left and right to ensure their re-election. As such, I see Trump working outside their boxes and has them contained in his. They canât break their habits and mindsets. Trump has a killer instinct to put his adversaries away. He showed it during the Republican primariesââLow Energy Jeb kept moving to stage left and ultimately was no longer on stage. Jeb got ground up and did not know how to counter.
