Each day I will post a link to information about someone who has achieved something noteworthy in a field that isn’t solely about being lesbian/LGBT themselves. Please feel free to share this with the young women in your life, especially young lesbians struggling with internalised homophobia. Thank you @Katalyst You may have noticed that I haven’t included any actors or comedians and yet I am having no trouble adding role models to the list. I am even excluding women with longer hair, which rules out Martina Navratilova, Ana Brsic and others. I bet that it would not be possible to do the same kind of thread for trans guys. It is impossible to find a prominent trans guy who is not an actor, model, porn star or full-time transactivist. I know of literally one writer. And that difference is part of the message young lesbians need to hear.

Thanks @Jane for that link I’ll be honest, while it’s clear Nedra is a great musician and radfem, and I’m glad you shared this, my preference FOR THIS THREAD, is to show women whose accomplishments are incidental to their lesbianism. I want to show young lesbians that their “identity” doesn’t have to consume them the way it does to most trans guys.
