Today I am mainly complaining about being ill and filling in my daughter’s DLA form, which if you’ve never had the joy of filling one in yourself can be best described as “40 pages of what your child cannot do” . My head hurts.

@LaDolceEater @Ladyfat i am retired now but went thro same. I did once write “i still have the congenital disability i was born with”. Also the focus on what is wrong defeats the whole living with disability script to find ways around problems. You get penalised for finding ways of helping yourself.

my man is visually impaired it is something he got from birth and his eyes had lots of surgeries. one of our friend is paraplegic and has been in a wheelchair for 35 years. both of them still have to fill in a file every 5 years to "prove" they are still disabled.🤷♀️ @Ladyfat

@LaDolceEater @Ladyfat Exactly its all about can you, not even should you which is a big issue for many. Theres no where you can say yes i can but it bloody hurts, and i cant do it for more than a couple of times, and then im poleaxed for pain the rest of the day/week/month. 😡

that is actually what the scottish system is looking at - not for ESA/UC, just PIP - new DA. @SouerTeresa there has been massive feedback about having to repeat the same stuff and the difficulties with mental health, fluctuating conditions, they are hearing it. the reserved benefits - ie the Work Capability Assessment for ESA or the disability component of UC won't change for people in Scotland though. @LaDolceEater @Ladyfat

the old IB50 form (less often than ESA assessments!!) I used to keep a photocopy of the completed form to refer to when I did the next one, so I could make sure I didn't contradict myself. @LaDolceEater @Ladyfat

There are still things up in the air as to how to keep up with people as they get worse and may move up a band in payments as a result.
