@ponfarr i just got back from spending 3 wks in australia and had about 10 days notice before leaving. exactly enough time to get my affairs in order for the inevitable plane crash/snake bite/kidney thievery.somehow i survived, although it's only been a few days and i'm quite sure the Qantas flu will hit me on monday or someshit

@mngrif thats v valid! i have a friend who, you know, books her flight home for school breaks a reasonable time in advance,, and then waits until the day before to figure out transit to/from the airport

@ponfarr it was my first time out of country. i had to double-time it on the passport and vaccinations (not that any were required but i wanted a few). passage from the destination airport was last second, not even last minute "just grab an uber and we'll comp you" "uhhh i've never used uber, they're asshoe"so long as money is no object, winging it on transportation is just fiiiine lolone AWESOME thing about my situation is i had no time to really research what to do, other than getting a few tips from some folks on fedi (like, swim between the flags, and where to get cheap booze). it really felt like i was exploring -- nothing was spoiled
