The IMHO defining feature of #cryptocurrency is that it is decentralised - you own your wallet. People that use exchanges as banks have neither understood cryptocurrency nor what exchanges are. They use the future to stay in the past. Simple.

Use exchanges ONLY for exchanges. And only if that’s the only way to convert. From fiat to cryptocurrency or between different coins. But don’t trust them beyond that. And even using them for that is IMHO extremely risky. They cannot be trusted.

The real way to use #cryptocurrency is peer to peer. Wallet to wallet. As a medium of exchange. Not as investment vehicle. Only when used that way, they can unfold their real potential. Exchanges are the past trying to control the future.

The real problem of #cryptocurrency is IMHO that it is extremely difficult to actually use them for what they call themselves. As currency. As a medium of exchange. To pay for everyday stuff. To be accepted that way. Where’s the venmo for #bitcoin, #nano, #lumens?

@jwildeboer I must admit that I store most of my coins on Coinbase. I know it's the past, but the incentive of deposit insurance was too strong.

@jwildeboer The problem with adoption of cryptocurrencies are too complex. Cryptocurrencies are a new phenomenon which newer existed before. IMO there are not any silver bullet for the crypto adoption. But the two major stopping factors are scalability issues and volatility.
