I love learning new things. The recordings of Cream songs don't allow you to clearly hear the drums. This song is so overplayed that I thought I knew everything about it, but the drums are simply brilliant.I finally understand why people said that Ginger Baker was a genius.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7274jWRL1I

@ThomasWic That was very impressive, thanks.I always liked Jack Bruce the best in Cream. I love his singing and bass. To me the Great God Clapton played better in Blind Faith, except for "Crossroads" on Wheels of Fire.

@ThomasWic One of my best friends is a drummer. He is the best- his drumming style reminds me of Charlie Watts. Impeccable, less is more, deceivingly great. He's probably been playing for close to 50 years.I've been sending him these Sina videos I see you post occasionally. He loves watching her play the drums. He's really digging it.I read somewhere that Sina is primarily a drummer, best known for that, although she can play a multitude of musical instruments really well.

@ThomasWic Absolutely. The one thing I really wanted to do musically was the drums. As my life of an Army Brat, our travels around the world are book marked with the music of the day. It was the one thing common through it all up until the time near finishing high school.Eric Clapton was an afterthought to my focus on Ginger Baker's work with the music of Cream. To me Iron Butterfly's long version of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida” was a favorite.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIVe-rZBcm4

@ThomasWic My friend is very restrained and disciplined, which I think is somewhat unusual for a drummer. No filler, no embellishments where not called for.He plays only what is needed and no more. He never overpowers the other musicians. He has exquisite taste, sensitivity to the whole sound of the band. It would seem easy to do that but it is not. Drummers can be like cavemen finally let loose on the stage. I rarely hear a drummer that powerful by keeping it simple. Blank spaces.

@RonOgletree @ThomasWic I saw Iron Butterfly in 1968 in a park outside at night while wrapped up like in a cocoon in a bedspread in Myrtle Beach. It was groovy but I was disappointed they only spent 3 hours on the long form of “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”

@All_Is_Well @ThomasWic There's another drummer from that era who became a punchline due to a simpleton, English, mediocrity of a comedian. That would be Richard Starkey aka Ringo Starr. He was overshadowed by 3 talented but over-rated musicians. He was the only member who was recruited by the other members, not just a friend of the other members. He's got skills like a surgeon. You can hear the drums and know the song. He was a pioneer of drumming.

@ThomasWic I rapped my head all day trying to remember what that beat reminded me of. It's 2am and I just remembered.I've always been a big Turner Classic Movie fan and LOVE their artistic promo ads (favorite: "Sunny Side of Life" - Chet Baker). This Julie London song remix was an outlier for TCM because it was so different from anything they'd ever done previously. I love its simple contagious percussion. This is what Sina's video reminded me of (finally). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pPly-weaEuM
