Turns out Grandpa Rooster actually speaks perfect English.He's just pretending to be a Mexican peasant.And he says he won't do anything about his roosters because he has a permit.The permit is invalidated by noise complaints, but he doesn't care and the won't enforce the law."I'm not going to cut out their tongues for you," he said. Grandpa Rooster said he's doing this because we didn't ask him nicely.He's quite the kidder.If we'd asked nicely, he would've continued doing what he's doing. Whenever my brother pointed out where he was being dishonest, he just shrugged.That gives me 100 percent free rein.I've had to do this several times before. @ThomasWic Using the fact that roosters crow when others are crowing, set up a way to broadcast roosters crowing and get his roosters crowing...whenever you want. Middle of the night, during a party etc. he has to hear and see for himself how annoying it is.

@ThomasWic I was researching this a bit a while back. I was looking at directing ultra or subsonic noise at them to curtail their crowing. A constant ultrasonic noise directed at the roosters will register in the rooster's head as 'white noise' that will keep them from reacting to sudden noises and lights that make them crow, especially in the non-dawn hours. Crowing at dawn can only be minimized with the neighbor's help, and being a dickhead he wont do that.

@ThomasWic The ultrasonic noise is actually two high pitched tones that we can't hear. They give a 'hemisynch' effect in the rooster's head (assuming they aren't deaf) and is 'heard' as white noise to them. A constant white/pink/brown noise keeps them from reacting to all but the loudest of sudden noises and lights with a crowing session.

Avoiding neighbors is what I did by purchasing a 58 acre tract and planting my house at the farthest point from the nearest neighbor.The other side of the property has been turned into a nature preserve, so effectively I have no neighbors to worry about.The adjacent property owners know I do not tolerate trespassers, and one has already found out I shoot at poachers.Haven't had any problem in quite a long time now.

The exact frequency probably is not as important as making sure it's steady, high enough pitched where humans don't hear it, and the two frequencies used are far enough apart to create a binaural beat in the chicken's head. To us, the binaural beat would sound like bump-bump, to them it sounds like radio static (white/pink/brown) noise.
