@fitheachBlowtorch and big persuaders? 😝I have a few *you will do as you are told* tools that are from time to time invaluable. Nut splitters, bolt extracters, reverse drill bits, spiral tooth sockets, various pipes to extend handles etc... Sometimes it is just fire and hammers. Don't let them win. Those around it that witnessed it will be more compliant while they remember 😉

@RunningInCircles Yup, blowtorch, which is why the bolt has a vague blue colour. A three pound sledgehammer was also used. It is the bolt that holds the front shock absorber onto the suspension. The nut came off easily enough, but the bolt wouldn't shift. Under the wheel arch I only had about 10cm swinging distance. I also had to be wary, in case the blowtorch melted something important. That bolt took some hammering to get it out. I now have forearm like Popeye, but only on the right.

@syntaktis Strangely, the nut came off without a problem. The bolt, which wasn't screwed in, just wouldn't come out. It took quite some *persuading*, with a sledgehammer and a blowtorch.

@fitheachAn extractor would be a good tool for such a case. If you can fit the tool where the screw is, of course. That's what the professionals use. I had the same problem with two screws in the exhaust. Heat, fire, sledgehammer, penetrating oil, extension bar, nothing worked. The extractor, finally, did the trick.

@syntaktis My problem bolt was underneath the car's front wheel arch. There isn't enough room for a power drill. The bolt wasn't even screwed in. The threaded part of the bolt was fully exposed. It might be worth investing in an extractor kit for problem bolts elsewhere.

@fitheachok, my mistake, wrong translation (in my mind), the proper American-English word for the tool must be "puller" (which also works as a "pusher" for screws)https://mastodon.social/media/bYvhx04_suTzKtv0wHA
