adding a PagerDuty alert for my home vpn was kinda useless, just like I needed a notification to notice the power or the internet went down2FFE82CD-288D-4D4C-945F-5DDCF9A…

@frainz but not.. it's just the basic infrastructure that sucks around here. And everyone is angry but the electricity network owner don't give a damn.Since the status I posted it got back, then it cut again, repeat four times. I'm now really envisaging to just move out somewhere else.

@frainz gonna annoy the mayor once again, but he can't do anything so... Also pretty sure all my devices are suffering from this shit. It's not viable. And someone argued a couple of hours ago that Lozère would become the french silicion valley, lol. Yeah right, just like tech companies could have random downtime all the time

@href This is the first time that I hear of Lozère, but if the wikipedia article is any good, silicon development isn't very likely. How long are the outages usually? If they are not too long, you could just use an UPS

@frainz haha yes, there's no way that it becomes a silicon valey - the person in question just thought it was because they are getting fiber to everyone. But nothing's going on for the electricity nor transport.the outages depends-- ranges from 5 minutes to 8+ hours. I already got light ups (~300W) but it's definitely not enough (since I also need to protect my 2*3000W speakers, huge desktop computer etc). Thinking about getting 3*5000W Ups but they're not cheap....

@gled @frainz yeah but not in most of the tech hubs afaik, most of the power cuts happen in the country side of california

@href @frainz Central valley and napa / humbolt were the largest in term of surface area probably, but there was definitely an impact in the bay area too :/ and will probably again, the problem is the network that was not upgraded nor maintained, and it just takes some luck SF or south bay was not included *yet*...Oakland Hills, San bruno to San Mateo, Santa cruz mountains, etc... all were...
